Excursion
ECVP 2005 attendees and guests are invited to visit the cathedral and historic city of Santiago de Compostela, on the morning/afternoon of Monday, August 22nd. The cathedral holds the remains of St. James (Santiago), one of Jesus’s 12 apostles, and is considered the third holiest site in the world for Christianity, after Jerusalem and Rome. The cathedral is 1200 years old (900 in its current configuration) and holds an amazing array of catholic relics and art. The tour will be guided by an expert about the offerings of the cathedral and the surrounding Romanesque granite streets of Santiago de Compostela, a vibrant Spanish community nestled within the ancient city. Due to its unparalleled cultural and architectural heritage, the city of Santiago de Compostela was declared World Heritage of Mankind by the UNESCO in 1984.

The tour bus will leave from the PALEXCO conference center (home of ECVP 2005) at 8am, and will return to PALEXCO at 2pm, in time for the opening of the conference that afternoon (the conference opens at 3:45pm with the Ramon y Cajal Symposium).

Cost: €30 including travel, guided tour, and packed/boxed lunch.
Note: This event is available for registration by anyone, whether or not they register as participants in the main ECVP 2005 Conference. See the Registration page for more details.
